Beverly Blume Smith grew up in southern California, graduated college in Oregon, and studied garden design in England. She’s studied with numerous artists in various mediums, around the globe.

While she traveled and lived in a variety of places in the United States and England., she now resides in the Lowcountry and works from her studio on Seabrook Island, South Carolina.
As you can imagine, having lived in the desert, the woods, the city and currently the marsh land of the Lowcountry of South Carolina, Beverly is never short on inspiration.
She enjoys working from life when she paints. The fragrance of lilies, the essence of the subjects she has her eye on and the subtleties of light and shadow in the landscape.
When Beverly paints in abstract form, she applies many layers, scraping off, putting on, adding materials as she sees fit in the process. When a painting is finished, you will see a product of depth and layers, some exposed, some hidden, all meaningful.
